July Update

Well, today is the last day of July. I can't believe it! Where has the time gone? I know it sounds so cliche, but really, the summer has gone by so quickly! There are still things on my To Do list that I hope to get accomplished in the next TWO weeks before it's "Back to School" for me.

July was a fun month for us. Lance's sister, Katelyn, was married on July 9th in Nebraska. Blake was the ring bearer (his first wedding to be in and go to, for that matter) so we all flew to Nebraska for the festivities. I was nervous leading up to the flight. I was worried about how Blake would do: Would he cry the whole time? Would the air pressure changes hurt his ears? Would he poop causing me to squish into that tiny airplane bathroom barely big enough for one person and try to wrestle him to change his diaper? -- You know, all of the 'mom' things. Well, he was a ROCK STAR! On the way there he snuggled up with the wonderful blanket that my BFF's mom made him for his birthday and went to sleep! He had so much fun at all of the wedding festivities. He laughed, danced and ran around all weekend. He even ran down the aisle all by himself and beautifully accomplished his ring bearer duties. We had such a great time meeting all of Carol's (Lance's step-mom) family and getting to celebrate with Katelyn & Tom as they began their new journey as a married couple.

This made for lots of entertainment at the reception :)

Seriously, how cute is this?!

The next weekend we were able to help celebrate Owen Talkington's 1st birthday. We had such a good time getting to see all of our Spring "family". Owen's daddy, Bryan, was Lance's college roommate and best man. We don't get to see this gang as much as we would like, but cherish every minute of time we do get to spend with them. It's so neat for all of us to get together with our kids. I know it's crazy for the parents (ours) to see their kids & their best friends with their babies.

Blake & Hudson had the same swim suit!

Mindy, Suzy and I were finally able to find time to meet up this summer to celebrate Mindy's 30th birthday! We met at BJ's in The Woodlands for dinner and had a great time finally getting to catch up. We've been trying to plan a girls weekend all summer (really before summer even started) and it's been hard to match up our schedules. That's what happens when between us we have 5 children! I love these girls and love any time I get to hang out with them.

If you know Mindy, you know this is SO true.

Two of my favorite girls.

We celebrated Baby Pointer #2 with a little Sprinkle at Guadalajara. It's so fun celebrating new life! Ashley is due to make Caleb a big brother at the end of September. We can't wait to meet this newest addition to our growing brood of babies. As you will see, I didn't do a very good job of taking pictures of all of the mamas, but I did make sure every baby in attendance was represented :) That's what people REALLY care about anyway, right?!

Leslie and I went to a writing training at the Galleria last Thursday. We were really looking forward to hearing some great speakers and getting some more information about our new textbook, but it was a total letdown. :( Bummer...but, did I mention that the training was at the Galleria?! You bet your biscuit we snuck out and hit the mall and made some very productive use out of our time :) - Having a technical glitch, so no pic. Sorry!

The next day my mom, Blake and I headed out to Richmond to visit my cousins! We had such a great visit. Makes me wish we lived closer. This is the case with all of my cousins :( We live close-ish, but not close enough to get to meet up for lunch, go shopping and get our kids together on a regular basis without checking schedules and planning an entire day for the 'trip' it takes to get from one side of Houston (in this case) to the other.

The next day (yesterday) Lance and I headed out to Texas Motor Speedway for Lance to complete his Nascar Racing Experience. We had such a great time. Lance's mom & brother, Jared, came up to watch him drive. A bunch of us all chipped in and bought Lance this as a birthday present. He really had a great time! He drove over 155mph :) After spending the afternoon at the track, we headed back to our hotel to clean up and then went over to Lance's cousin's house for dinner. We really enjoyed getting to see his cousins and get to catch up with them. When we got back to our hotel we decided we needed to quit being 'old' so we walked over to The Cheesecake Factory for drinks, dessert and a little date night :) About the time we got good and settled into our bed at the hotel and were sleeping soundly the fire alarm started going off! Now, here's the thing. This keeps happening to us. It happened to Lance and a friend in Galveston, me and friends in San Antonio and now to both of us in Southlake. I really think we may be bad luck! Turns out there was no fire and it was a false alarm so after about 30 minutes we were able to go back into the hotel and go back to sleep.

By looking at the calendar, I think the next two weeks are going to be a total blur. Mom, Blake & I are going to head to Burkburnett to see my grandparents this week. I have shopping trips, play dates, vet visits, birthday's to celebrate and doctor's appointments filling up every single day until school starts. Wish me luck!
