We are having a BOY!!! Yay!!! We're so very excited.
We found out Wednesday after my doctor's appointment. We had been waiting for the blood test results to be available on the phone answering service, but they were never up. Lance was hopeful that my doctor would know, but I was tired of getting excited and being disappointed when we didn't get to find out, so I wasn't holding my breath.
I left work early and got to my appointment right on time. When I got back to my room and the doctor came in she asked me about the first trimester ultrascreen and started flipping through my chart. I said, "Do you have the results?" to which she replied, "Yeah, you guys haven't seen them yet?" Excitedly I said, "No. So, you know the sex, too!?" She says yes and asks if I want to know and I said, "Yes, but will you do me a favor?" She already knew when I was going to ask. She said, "You want me to write it down for you?". Lance wasn't with me at the appointment and we really wanted to find out together, so she went over the tests with me and then wrote down the sex, put it in a security envelope and sealed it for me to take home.
I sent Lance a text to let him know that I had the results for us to open at home and headed out of there as soon as I could. I was very excited when he was home before I even got there. He messed me with a little saying that he didn't want to find out anymore etc. and then I handed him the envelope and let him open it. We talked about how many people had voted and what the final count was (19 Girl, 14 Boy) and then he finally opened the envelope. (I think this must be what it feels like at the Grammy's!) Lance said, "Well, the minority was right!" and turned the piece of paper around and said, "It's a boy."
It was so cool! We were both in a little bit of shock. Lance was convinced it was going to be a girl and even though I voted for it being a boy, all of those girl votes were beginning to get to me. We could not be more excited though.
It has been so much fun telling all of our friends and family! Everyone has been so sweet and so excited for this new little addition to our family.
One of the coolest things was Jenna calling me less than an hour after I got home and found out and saying, "I have a feeling that you know what you're having!?" I got this huge grin on my face and said, "Well, actually, I do know!" She was so cute and said, "It's that crazy best friend connection! Tell me!" She's so cute!!
*I forgot to mention (And how could I forget? She was my first friend to tell in person!) we also got to go tell Leslie and Brad in person at her Dad's office here in Conroe. We went by there on our way to dinner and gave them the big news. It's kinda cool because Owen (Leslie's son) was the first person that I told I was pregnant - even before Les! It's fitting that I got to tell him that he's going to have another boy (as in male!) friend to play with. Leslie and Brad ended up getting to go to dinner with us. It was such a great night!
I made my sweet girlfriends at work wait until the next day to find out! They were more anxious than I was. (Thank you for checking on me throughout the week and for all of your sweet text messages! You guys have made this so much fun!) I told them that once I knew I would either wear blue or pink the next day, so I sent them all a text Wednesday and told them that we knew but they had to wait until the next day. It was so fun seeing everyone and getting to see all of their reactions. I just wish I had had a camera with me! Kate, Leslie and I counted and by our calculations we will be the 12th boy born to a McC teacher since last March when Ashley started the trend. It's unbelievable! (By the way, Charli, we're counting you as a boy too! We can't wait to find out what little Harbin is!)
