I had such a great birthday! I came in to work Friday to a beautiful surprise: flowers from my dad and homemade cupcakes (strawberry w/strawberry icing! my fav!) from my mom! My mom drove the flowers and cupcakes over to school on Thursday and left them with Leslie to surprise me on Friday. It was a wonderful surprise :) Side note on the flowers: My dad has always bought me flowers on my birthday. Seriously, for as long as I can remember. I have pictures of when I was a little girl holding my birthday flowers from my dad. One of the teachers I work with asked me if Lance ever tried to compete. I told her, "No way! He knows better. Plus, he's off the hook." All day long our students were coming in and telling me happy birthday.
My sweet friend Hayley was the person in charge of my birthday at work. (We all pick a person at the beginning of the year and bring cake etc.) Well, Hayley has been out on maternity leave since Dec. but she surprised me and made some of my favorites: white cake w/ chocolate icing, brownies and skittles and came with sweet baby Kaylynn to school for lunch! Another exciting surprise!
After work we went over to Wings 'N More for some pickle chips :) YUM! I chose Wings this year because I wanted everyone to be able to come and go and just hang out. It was a success! Thank you so much to everyone who was able to come. I had such a nice evening and felt so loved :) I really have the best friends in the world. No kidding... The best birthday present in the world is leaving dinner with your belly full and your heart is overflowing <---lame, I know, but the only way to explain it.
Saturday I helped out at our TAKS Academy (you gotta love the TAKS test!) from 8:30-12:30. Lance made a yummy pizza for lunch and once my tummy was full, it was nap time. I guess I was tired from all the birthday fun. My mother-in-law, Terri, came over for a little while and brought me a gift. It's always nice to get to visit with she and Jared. We had fun playing on our Wii and talking.
Sunday I spent the AM doing homework :( and then Lance and I went to College Station for the afternoon/evening. It was so nice to be back 'home'. College Station really is a second home to us. We drove around and looked at houses to get ideas for when we build. Then we called Brad & Leah and went by and visited with them then we went to dinner. Brad had plans to go mountain biking with a friend, but he came with us to Cheddar's until it was time for him to leave. We had fun hanging out with Leah & Will :)
It was a great weekend! Thank you to everyone who called, sent cards and came to hang out on my birthday! I feel so blessed :)
