Christmas Baking

Well, I decided today that baking is for the birds. Those of you who know my mother just gasped in horror, I know. It's terrible. My goal for the past two days has been to do as little as possible. Now, don't get me wrong...I did a lot of stuff, but I tried to take it easy and stay home as much as possible. Today I decided to bake. I made cookies, a chocolate pie (I tried to make a sugar free pie to take to Lance's Grandpa - Yeah, it tasted about as good as it sounds) and sausage balls to bake in the morning for Lance's breakfast. I figure since the poor guy is working on Christmas Eve, he deserves a decent breakfast. Baking was fun, but now I'm exhausted! My mom and Granny have always made it look so easy. My mom's signature line when I or any of my friends had a request is, "I'll just whip those (that) right up!" She said it with such confidence and ease. I guess I just need to keep practicing.

You are right - I did gasp - but I think cooking comes with time - and when you have some time it is a little easier! But have no fear - atleast 3 days of cookies did not get burned up in your oven by your husband! That is what Phil did when he turned on the oven without looking to see what was inside - so needless to say I did cry a little, scream a little and actually punched Phil in the arm for being a bonehead!

Oh, I miss your moms cooking. I loved going to your house to see what your mom had made.

Cookies are about the only thing I can cook. If only cooking was genetic! Wait, that wouldn't of helped me at all - sorry mom.
